YORK HER Events

York HER can be searched through Heritage Gateway, but also has two on-line maps enabling the searching of archaeological events, sometimes leading to downloadable reports, and archaeological monuments. Please note that to make the events map function it is necessary to zoom in a very long way before the markers become clickable. Markers that remain yellow have a downloadable report, markers that turn red do not.

Out Of Oblivion

Website based upon the Yorkshire Dales HER. There is no mapping, and the searchable entries are only a selection from the full HER

At the time of writing, City of York, East Riding of Yorkshire,  North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales HERs are all available to consult via Heritage Gateway although the quality and detail of entry is extremely variable between the different HERs

Yorkshire Archaeological Journal

The Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society has now digitised the complete run of Yorkshire Archaeological Journals from 1870 up to 2010, along with the fifteen volumes of Wakefield Manor Court Rolls. These are publicly available at Internet Archive

York HER can be searched through Heritage Gateway, but also has two on-line maps enabling the searching of archaeological events, sometimes leading to downloadable reports, and archaeological monuments. In theory, searching the Monuments map should lead to the entry on Heritage Gateway, however it only seems to return blank entries. This fault has existed for at least a year.
